Support & Sync Guide
Help with Cloud Backup, cross-device sync, and common questions.
Sync DateWise Across Devices
Cloud Backup (included with Pro) uses your own Google Drive to keep your reminders in sync across devices — nothing passes through WiselyRise servers. Here's the full walkthrough:
- On your source device (the one with your existing reminders): open Settings → Cloud Backup and sign in with the Google account you want to use.
- Turn on Cloud Backup, then tap Backup Now. This uploads an encrypted copy of your reminders to your personal Google Drive App Data folder.
- On your new or second device, install DateWise and go to Settings → Cloud Backup, then sign in with the same Google account.
- Tap Restore if the device is new and has no reminders yet, or Merge if it already has reminders you want to keep alongside the incoming ones.
- That's the one-time setup. From here, DateWise syncs automatically in the background on both devices — add, edit, or delete a reminder on either one, and it makes its way to the other without you needing to open Cloud Backup again.
Restore vs. Merge — what's the difference?
Restore replaces everything on the device with the backup. Merge combines both — for any reminder that exists on both sides, it keeps whichever version was edited most recently, and brings over anything that only exists on one side. Use Merge if you have reminders on both devices you don't want to lose.
Sync-lite — what "automatic" actually means
Once Cloud Backup is on, DateWise checks for changes when you reopen the app and periodically in the background, then syncs automatically. It's not instant like a messaging app — expect it to catch up within a few minutes of reopening the app on the other device, longer if your phone's battery settings restrict background apps (see Troubleshooting below). You can always open Cloud Backup and tap Sync Now for an on-demand check.
Troubleshooting
Notifications aren't appearing
Check that DateWise has notification permission in your phone's Android Settings, and that battery optimization isn't restricting the app in the background. On some devices (Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus) you may also need to enable "Autostart" or set battery usage to "Unrestricted" for scheduled local notifications to fire reliably.
Contacts aren't importing
Contact import only reads birthday dates already saved on a contact — if a contact has no birthday field filled in on your phone, there's nothing to import. Double-check the Contacts permission is granted in Android Settings, then try the import again from Settings → Import from Contacts.
I reinstalled the app and lost my Pro purchase
Pro is tied to your Google Play account, not your device. Reinstall DateWise, open Settings → Restore Purchase, and sign in with the same Google Play account you originally purchased with.
Backup or Restore isn't working
Make sure you're signed into the same Google account on both devices, and that the account has enough free Google Drive storage. If Backup Now or Restore fails, try again with a stable internet connection — the backup file is small, so this is usually a momentary connectivity issue.
