DateWise ("we", "our", or "the app") is developed and operated by WiselyRise Solutions ("WiselyRise"). We built DateWise with an uncompromising privacy-first philosophy: your personal events, dates, relationships, and notes belong to you and stay on your device. This Privacy Policy details what information DateWise accesses, how that information is handled, and your rights under applicable privacy legislation including the India Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act 2023), GDPR, and Google Play Developer Program Policies.

1. Core Privacy Principles

100% Offline-First: All reminder data, contact lists, notes, and preferences are stored in a local SQLite database directly on your device.
No Account Required: You never need to register, create a username, or provide an email to use DateWise's core features.
Zero Tracking & Advertising: We do not use third-party analytics trackers, advertising SDKs, device fingerprinting, or behavioral surveillance tools.
No WiselyRise Data Servers: WiselyRise does not operate remote servers that store, process, or harvest your personal reminder or contact data.

2. Information You Provide & Store Locally

2.1 Reminders & Events

When you create reminders, DateWise stores on your device: event titles, dates, times, recurrence rules, urgency levels, notes, category types (e.g. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Bills & EMIs, Renewals, Insurance, Medicines, Appointments, Exams, Remembrance, and Custom types), and relationship tags. This data is stored locally in an encrypted/sandboxed SQLite database protected by your mobile operating system's security architecture.

2.2 People Hub

When you add contacts to the People Hub, we store locally: names, relationship circles (Family, Friends, Work, Relatives, School, Neighbors, VIP), optional phone numbers, optional email addresses, optional WhatsApp handles, linked contact lookup keys, avatar photo file paths, and personal notes. All People Hub data remains strictly on your device.

2.3 Inbox Notes & Temporary Captures

Items captured in the Inbox (titles, notes, rough dates, assigned people, and image attachments such as receipt snapshots or gift ideas) are stored locally in your device's private app storage. They are scheduled into reminders or deleted at your discretion.

2.4 Photos & Avatars

If you attach a photo to a reminder or assign an avatar photo to a contact, the image file is saved in DateWise's private local application directory on your device. Photos are never transmitted to WiselyRise. If (and only if) you enable the optional "Include Photos" setting for Google Drive Cloud Backup (a Pro feature), avatar images are uploaded to your personal Google Drive Application Data folder.

3. Device Permissions & Smart Features

3.1 Device Contacts Permission (`READ_CONTACTS`)

Prominent Disclosure: DateWise offers an optional "Import from Contacts" feature to help you quickly import birthdays and anniversaries from your phone's address book into reminders and People profiles.

On-Demand Access Only: DateWise requests the READ_CONTACTS permission only when you explicitly tap "Import from Contacts" in the app.
Read-Only: DateWise only reads contact display names, birthday dates, anniversary dates, and contact photos. DateWise never modifies, edits, or deletes your device contacts.
No Remote Transmission: Contact information is processed locally on your phone to create reminders in your local SQLite database. Your address book is never uploaded, transmitted, sold, or shared with WiselyRise or any third party.
Permission Revocation: You can revoke contacts access at any time via Android Settings → Apps → DateWise → Permissions. Previously imported reminders will remain on your device until you delete them.

3.2 Smart Add & On-Device Rule-Based Parsing

DateWise includes "Smart Add", which allows you to type or dictate reminder prompts in plain language (e.g. "Mom's birthday next Friday" or "Car insurance due Oct 15"):

No AI or Machine Learning: DateWise does not use artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning models, or cloud-based language processors. Smart Add relies entirely on offline, deterministic date-pattern matching and keyword rules built into the app.
100% On-Device Processing: All text parsing is performed strictly offline on your device. No prompt text, voice dictation, or parsed dates are ever transmitted to WiselyRise, third-party AI services, or any external servers.
Local Trial Counter: Free users receive 3 free Smart Add trial uses. The number of trials used is stored locally in device SharedPreferences and is never transmitted to any external server.

3.3 Microphone Permission (`RECORD_AUDIO`) & Speech-to-Text

If you choose to use voice input in Smart Add by tapping the microphone icon:

The app requests the RECORD_AUDIO permission solely to enable real-time speech-to-text transcription.
Speech recognition is performed locally using the Android operating system's built-in speech recognition framework.
DateWise does not record, save, store, or transmit your audio or voice data to any server. In-memory audio buffers are discarded immediately once transcription concludes or is cancelled.

3.4 Voice Announcements (Text-to-Speech)

DateWise can announce reminder titles aloud upon notification. This feature uses the Android device's native Text-to-Speech (TTS) synthesizer engine locally. No voice audio is downloaded from or transmitted to external servers.

3.5 Biometric Authentication (`USE_BIOMETRIC` / `USE_FINGERPRINT`)

DateWise provides an optional App Lock feature using device biometrics (fingerprint or screen lock). Biometric verification is performed entirely by the Android operating system at the secure hardware level (BiometricPrompt API). DateWise never accesses, collects, or stores your biometric data, fingerprints, or passcodes.

3.6 Alarms & Notifications (`SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM` / `POST_NOTIFICATIONS`)

DateWise schedules reminders locally using Android's exact alarm mechanisms (AlarmManager) and posts alerts via local notification channels. Reminder alerts are generated entirely on your device without the use of push notification servers or cloud messaging relays.

4. Cloud Backup & Multi-Device Sync (Pro Feature)

DateWise Pro includes an optional Cloud Backup and multi-device synchronization feature powered by Google Drive. This feature is entirely voluntary and is disabled by default.

4.1 Google Sign-In & Restricted Application Data Scope

Authentication: If you choose to enable Cloud Backup, you sign in with your own Google account via Google Sign-In. DateWise receives your Google display name, email address, and profile photo URL to verify identity and show your active backup account.
Restricted Access (drive.appdata): DateWise requests access strictly to the dedicated Google Drive Application Data folder (drive.appdata scope). This is a hidden, sandboxed directory created specifically for DateWise. DateWise cannot read, view, modify, or access any other files, documents, or photos in your Google Drive.

4.2 Backup Data Contents & Conflict Resolution

Contents: Cloud backup files contain your reminders, People Hub entries, Inbox notes, category settings, and a local deletion ledger (tombstones). If "Include Photos" is enabled, contact avatar photos are also included.
Sync Conflict Handling: When synchronizing across multiple devices, DateWise computes cryptographic hashes to detect conflicts. If a conflict occurs, DateWise prompts you to choose either Merge (combining entries from both devices) or Overwrite (replacing one device's data).
Third-Party Infrastructure: Your backup file resides solely within your personal Google Drive storage, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. WiselyRise has no access to your Google Drive credentials or your backup files.

5. Data Retention, Recycle Bin & Deletion

5.1 Local Recycle Bin

When you delete a reminder, it is moved to the local Recycle Bin and retained on your device until you choose to restore it or permanently delete it. You can manually restore individual items, permanently delete specific entries, or empty the entire Recycle Bin at any time via Settings → Recycle Bin.

5.2 Deletion Tombstone Ledger

To ensure that deleted contacts are not accidentally resurrected when restoring or merging cloud backups across multiple devices, DateWise records deleted contact IDs in a local tombstone ledger. These tombstone entries contain only unique identifiers and timestamps, remain on your device, and are automatically pruned after 365 days.

5.3 Google Drive Backup Deletion

You can delete your Google Drive backup at any time from within the app by navigating to Settings → Cloud Backup → Delete Backup. This initiates deletion of the backup file from your Google Drive AppData folder. Actual removal is subject to Google Drive's own propagation timelines and trash policies.

5.4 Total Data Wipe

To erase all local DateWise data, you can clear app storage via Android Settings → Apps → DateWise → Storage → Clear Data, or uninstall the application. Once cleared, local data cannot be recovered unless previously backed up to Google Drive or exported to a local backup file.

6. Data Sharing & Third Parties

WiselyRise does not sell, rent, monetize, or share your personal data with third parties. The only third-party service providers involved in operating the app are:

Google Play Billing: Used to securely process the one-time Pro in-app purchase. Google handles payment card details according to the Google Play Terms of Service.
Google Drive & Google Identity Services: Used strictly for optional user-initiated cloud backup and sign-in authentication.
Native External Apps (WhatsApp / Phone Calls): If you choose to contact a person via the 1-tap WhatsApp or phone dialer shortcuts, DateWise launches the native phone dialer or WhatsApp application on your device with pre-filled details. No data is sent to WiselyRise servers during this action.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (including the India Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to:

Access & Portability: You can export your entire reminder and people database at any time in structured JSON format via Settings → Local Backup.
Rectification & Erasure: You can edit or delete any reminder, contact, or note directly within the app at any time.
Withdraw Consent: You can revoke device permissions (Contacts, Microphone, Notifications) via your Android device settings, or disconnect your Google Drive backup account via Settings → Cloud Backup → Disconnect.
Supervisory Authority (EEA/UK): If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom and believe your data has been processed in violation of applicable law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority.

8. Children's Privacy

DateWise is a general-audience productivity tool and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the app, please contact us so we can investigate and assist.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in app functionality, legal standards, or operating system policies. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of DateWise after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
